Rainbow Girl, Rainbow Twirl

The first page of Rainbow Girl is finished! I really enjoyed stitching the rainbow colours! I’m starting to get used to the feel of stitching 1 over 1 on 25 count and would certainly use this fabric and thread combination again.  It’s definitely up there with 20 count lugana (2 over 1) as a favorite combination of mine. Progress update:

Fly by Needleminder

I’m pretty good at losing needles… I think they all end up the same place as all those missing sock pairs… Maybe there is a needle snatching monster as well as a sock monster! Anyway, I made a needleminder by snapping a little magnet onto a butterfly brooch/pin that was handy. It’s working great… but whether I will stop losing needles… well that is probably still unlikely lol! ;)

  1. It's now only me who starts in right top pages - yes yes yes! :)

    1. hehe :) I'm actually stitching it sideways! It fits better on the q-snap that way. I turn the whole piece to the left, then I am still starting on the left hand side... If that makes any sense! I am positive there are others who start on the right hand side though Karolina! ;)

    2. I start each work however I feel like.. That might be different with each work.
But I found out that the largest works I am making all starts on the right top.

    3. There you go Karolina! Proof that there are others starting in the right top corner!!! I'm kind of the same as Natascha in respect to starting where I feel called to start... The rainbow corner in this one was calling me ;)

  2. Gorgeous colors and love the fabric. Great work.
Do you also have a picture of how your needleminder looks like from the back? I get the feeling I could make them myself, because I have tuns of cameo's... But I just don't know how they look at the back.

    1. Thanks Natascha! Yes! I'll update the post with a picture for you :) The brooch has a fastener thing (very technical term right there ;) ) that allows me to attach it to the fabric by putting the pin through and clasping the fastener on... This means less magnets! The material my broach is made out of allows the magnet to be stuck to either side. It was sitting better on the top though... Unless I glue it to the bottom of the brooch (which I may do) but then I'd need a magnet for each wing and some special glue! I don't have any special glue : /

    2. Also if they don't have a pin and clasp you can just glue magnets onto the back of them... If the back is flat!

  4. I'm right there with you! It seems like I'm constantly losing them. My hubby doesn't think it's very funny lol he usually ends up sitting on them...on the other side of the couch...far far away lol. Your stitching is gorgeous!

    1. Thanks Heather! hehe :) Your poor husband! My needles usually end up on the floor. I swear they just disappear into thin air though because I still need to buy more when there is none on the floor or in the project boxes... It's a mystery lol ;)

  5. Lovely progress on your rainbow of colours Megan. I certainly couldn't be without my needle minders. I use one on my fabric and my spare live on my daylight lamp. That way I'm never short of somewhere to put my needles! :)

    1. Thanks Rachel! A needleminder is a handy thing to have... a daylight lamp would also be nice too! :)

  6. Beautiful update on your stitching Megan! This is such a pretty colourful design, it must be a joy to work on it.
I am a recent user of needle minders and could not do without them now... I too lost so many needles but this is now truly a thing of the past :)
